House Orin

House Orin was a palatine noble house holding territory on Linon, described as half a system from Delos. As a palatine house within the Sollan Empire, it would have governed serfs and administered its domain under the authority of the local archon.

House Orin's halls on Linon are shattered in the Battle of Linon, a military action undertaken by Lord Alistair Marlowe in the aftermath of his father Lord Timon's embarrassing death. Lord Timon had been killed in his bed by a homunculus — a gift from a Mandari competitor — and the resulting scandal undermined Marlowe authority in the Delos system. Lord Alistair spends the better part of a century consolidating power following this event, with the Battle of Linon serving as the culminating act that destroys House Orin and re-establishes Marlowe dominance among the lords of the Delos system.

The house's bloodline may have been completely destroyed in the battle. The destruction of House Orin functions thereafter as a standing demonstration of Marlowe power and serves as a deterrent to other lesser houses in the system.

No individual members of House Orin are named in surviving accounts. The house is extinct by the time of the narrative.
