Lord Timon

Lord Timon was Lord Alistair Marlowe's father and Hadrian's paternal grandfather, the previous Archon of Meidua. He died when Alistair was barely fifty years old — murdered in his bed by a homunculus, an artificial person given to him as a gift by a Mandari competitor, which strangled him while he was in the throes of lovemaking. This humiliating death cast a shadow over House Marlowe that took Lord Alistair the better part of a century to erase, culminating in the Battle of Linon and the complete destruction of House Orin. Hadrian reflects that Gibson may have counseled Alistair through those difficult years and perhaps even suggested the obliteration of House Orin's bloodline.
