Delos
WorldFirst appears in Empire of Silence, Chapter 1
Delos is Hadrian Marlowe's home world and the seat of House Marlowe's prefecture under the authority of the vicereine-duchess Lady Elmira Kephalos. Its sun casts gray light and its geography includes the wide Apollan Ocean. The planet has a gravity of one and one-tenth standard, a day of twenty-six standard hours, and holds rich uranium deposits in the Redtine Valley — now the largest licensed source in the sector following the destruction of Cai Shen. It sits approximately twenty thousand light-years from the Cielcin war front at the Veil.
Hadrian holds — or held, before his father may have reclaimed it following his disappearance — the title to twenty-six thousand hectares of Marlowe land on Delos in his own name, sealed by the prefecture government and the sector vicereine. The land is described as worth more than a starship. Hadrian reasons that his father almost certainly reclaimed the land after his disappearance but that the House Marlowe signet ring still legally binds the house to any promise made under its seal, enforced by the Inquisition. Urban centers include the coastal city of Meidua below Devil's Rest, Artemia where Lady Elmira holds court, and the southern region near Euclid where the Kephalos summer palace at Haspida is located.
