Adraiano Azhar

Adraiano Azhar is a Jaddian captain and aryabite, a veteran of Perfugium serving under Kaim-Olorin and Admiral Serpico. Hadrian comes to recognize him as the figure Olorin calls "the other Hadrian," a trusted officer in the Jaddian command. He participates in the muster at Tenba and, during the evacuation at Catraeth, advocates leaving critically ill patients in cryonic fugue rather than abandoning them to suffer.

During the escape from Aurora, Adraiano fights at the rear, covering the group's retreat and directing the mamluks. He transmits the fleet-wide withdrawal order to the Jaddian ships on Olorin's instruction. At some point during the campaign he falls temporarily under the mental domination of the Watchers, an experience that visibly marks him -- by the time of the council at the round table he is gaunt and changed, bearing the aspect of a man whose mind has been taken and returned.
