Arae
WorldFirst appears in Demon in White, Chapter 1
Arae is a world where the MINOS sorcerers established underground foundries used to forge the first Cielcin-machine hybrids, including the machine bodies of the Iedyr Yemani. It is also the site of a last stand by MINOS operatives who chose death over capture.
Geography
Arae contains foundries deep beneath the earth. The world has extensive subterranean infrastructure used for manufacturing.
Culture
Arae is the location where human magi in the service of the Cielcin craft the unique machine bodies of the Iedyr Yemani, also known as the White Hand. Each of these bodies is built in the bowels of the world in underground foundries. The MINOS sorcerers who worked there were the designers of the first Cielcin-machine hybrids and likely the architects of the Iedyr Yemani program.
Politics
Arae operated under the MINOS organization, an Extrasolarian faction whose magi served the Cielcin. When Imperial forces came to Arae, the MINOS sorcerers there committed suicide rather than be taken alive, transmitting images of their minds across space to a ship in deep orbit as a means of escape and continuity. Siran chased one of these sorcerers -- a woman who would become Severine -- to a foundry deep beneath the earth and shot her there. The Ninth Chair Iovan, a surviving MINOS operative, later identifies himself as having been present on Arae at that time.
