Zelaz

Zelaz is an Exalted captain, first-among-equals among the captains loyal to Calen Harendotes, the Latarran Monarch, and a member of the Latarran High Court. His body is grafted into a float-chair; he is a hairless dwarf with needle teeth and metallic red eyes. Hadrian describes him as floating above proceedings like an evil spirit.

First encountered commanding the vessel Melancholia, Zelaz ordered his ship to engage the Imperial fleet when Urbaine invoked Harendotes's name, then escaped before the fighting concluded. He later appears at Forum as part of the Latarran delegation to the Imperial Council, where he speaks on the logistics of moving a Cielcin worldship.

Zelaz is identified as the only Exalted captain who knew Harendotes's true identity as Kharn Sagara, and he personally assisted the Monarch in establishing his foothold on Latarra. He was present aboard the Enigma of Hours as part of the Latarran fleet at Vorgossos.
