Tor Imlarros

Tor Imlarros is the Curator of Gabriel's Archive on Colchis, a scholiast who serves as keeper of its keys. An old man with a thickly accented voice, he identifies himself as an engineer rather than a philosopher.

Imlarros guides Hadrian's party into the Archive, explaining that it was designed and sealed by Tor Aramini on the orders of Gabriel II, and has not been opened since. He describes the facility's layered security: three massive iron keys held by separate keyholders must be turned simultaneously, and atomics planted between the Archive and the surrounding compound -- with a reservoir fed by ten-mile channels to the sea as insulation -- stand ready to destroy the vault if anything dangerous were ever to emerge. He insists on scholiasts rather than Valka handling the locks, citing Stricture.
