Colchis

Colchis is the location where Hadrian Marlowe is held in a cell following the events on Emesh. From this cell, writing by candlelight with vermilion ink provided by his hosts, he composes his retrospective account of the events described in these chronicles — including the duel with Gilliam Vas, which he records roughly fifteen hundred years after it occurred. He describes the night at Colchis as interminable, needing to send for new candles as the first guttered out while he wrote.
