Sir Roban Milosh

Sir Roban Milosh is a knight-lictor in the household of Lord Alistair Marlowe at Devil's Rest on Delos, assigned to protect Hadrian and his brother Crispin. Dark-skinned with blunt features, a wide nose, and deep-set eyes beneath a heavy brow, Roban is of decent though not exalted birth; his genetic enhancements were applied upon his ascension to knighthood rather than inherited, making him a technical mutant by the standards of the nobile castes.

Roban serves as both protector and intelligence operative for Alistair, personally extracting a confession from the scholiast Gibson and broadcasting it to a public assembly. Despite his role as Alistair's instrument, Roban shows genuine warmth toward Hadrian; at Hadrian's departure from Devil's Rest he steps forward to offer a handshake and a clap on the shoulder, his manner noticeably more human than the formal farewell of Tor Alcuin. He accompanies Hadrian on what he calls "one last trip."
