Tor Alcuin

Tor Alcuin is the chief scholiast advisor to Lord Lord Alistair Marlowe at Devil's Rest on Delos, a dark-skinned palatine who serves as both a precise advisory resource and a manager of public affairs. He is emotionally detached and devoted to Alistair's interests, dismissing the unjust punishment of Tor Gibson without visible concern.

Despite this coldness, Alcuin warned Gibson in advance that Sir Felix was coming to arrest him — a professional courtesy extended because he knew Gibson was innocent of involvement in Hadrian Marlowe's escape attempt. Years later, Hadrian reflects that Alcuin may still be alive, preserved by multiple long voyages in fugue between Delos and the Consortium offices at Arcturus.
