Marius Whent

Marius Whent is a self-styled Admiral and planetary dictator of Pharos whose regime Hadrian and his companions topple during the Pharos affair on their quest for Vorgossos. Prior to the campaign, Hadrian and his companions were sold to Whent by Bordelon and the Normans. The Red Company is hired to kill Whent and support pro-Imperial rebels; after Jinan Azhar extracts Hadrian from Whent's compound, a three-month campaign ends in Whent's surrender and death.

Whent's defeat is commemorated by two lasting trophies. Jinan cuts down his personal standard -- a yellow flag bearing a black, eight-winged angel with a skull for a face -- during the victory celebration; the flag later hangs in the Maddalo House gymnasium. Tribune Bassander Lin carries Whent's highmatter sword, claimed from his desk during the escape.
