Hakurani

The Hakurani move on six limbs, using hands and feet together. Their hands are like hooked claws of naked bone. The face is furred in white and scarlet and appears featureless but for two enormous compound black eyes set to either side of the head, each as large as a human face and faceted like carved onyx. They have two long drooping ears approximately two cubits in length. The body is covered in a thick coat of chalk white and violent red fur about the shoulders and narrow trunk.

The Hakurani do not communicate through speech but through infrasonic vibration, felt as a reverberation in the chest rather than heard.

The Hakurani are kept as slaves by the Cielcin.

Radhassa is a Hakurani slave kept in Dorayaica's throne room. She frees Hadrian Marlowe from his bonds and faces Dorayaica's infant child alone to allow his escape, sacrificing herself in the process.
