Sieglinde

The Sieglinde is a superdreadnought almost forty miles long, the largest vessel in Hauptmann's fleet above Berenike. In the night sky above Deira, it is the only ship large enough that its shape can be made out from the surface.

The ship has a large repair bay in which the Schiavona hangs under overhead lights, with men in vacuum suits drifting on wires performing final flight preparations. Hauptmann's office aboard the ship has a door nearly a foot thick and requires thorough searching and confiscation of effects before entry. The office walls are hung with hunting trophies and Cielcin heraldic spears, and the room features a rose-quartz desktop with holograph interfaces, a sideboard with books, and a red leather reclining chair.

The Sieglinde serves as the flagship of the Centaurine fleet. The Schiavona undergoes final flight preparations in the Sieglinde's repair bay.

Above Berenike, Hauptmann assigns the Sieglinde to withdraw out-system to a point three-tenths of a light-year above the ecliptic under the command of Legate Corran, as part of a plan to feign abandonment of Berenike and draw the Cielcin into overconfidence. The Sieglinde later returns to Berenike under Corran's command as part of the Imperial relief fleet.

Hauptmann maintains his office aboard the Sieglinde. Legate Corran commands the ship when it is assigned to withdraw out-system and subsequently leads it back to Berenike as part of the relief fleet.
