Mnemon

The Mnemon is a great Jaddian battleship. Internally, the ship features velvet-cushioned tram gondolas with wine-dark tufted leather walls, gold-chased fittings, and carpets more than an inch thick; the tram runs along the spine of the ship. The audience chamber has a floor of polished onyx black as space with a blood-red carpet running from the entrance to a gilded dais beneath a blue silk canopy. Tapestries depicting scenes of ancient battle hang in the chamber, which smells faintly of jubala smoke. The innermost guards to the prince's chamber are Maeskoloi swordmasters rather than mamluk clones.

The ship has a great bay described as shining brightly. The Mnemon contains a court from which Prince Kaim can appear via holographic image.

The surviving bridge section is spiny-looking, like the skeleton of a fish, and approximately half a mile from stem to stern. It contains the bridge, lower cramped decks with a cubiculum, dormitories, small cabins for the admiral and prince, and meager life-support systems.

The Mnemon is stationed in high orbit above Ganelon as the Jaddian flagship. Following the evacuation of Perfugium, the Ascalon docks aboard the Mnemon. The Emperor and his court transfer to the Mnemon before moving to the Tempest. The Jaddian fleet rendezvous with Lin's Imperial force several light-years outside the Perfugium system.

At Gododdin, Prince Kaim retreats to the Mnemon from the planet's surface. He appears via holographic image from the Mnemon's court during the council. After a confrontation at the council, Hadrian Marlowe orders Orphan to raise the Mnemon to speak with Prince Kaim but receives no reply.

During the Battle of Gododdin, Kaim-Olorin commands from aboard the Mnemon. Orphan identifies the ship by name when picking up Olorin's transmission during the battle.

The Mnemon is destroyed when Gododdin is destroyed, with only the bridge section surviving after being jettisoned. The remnant hangs by clamps inside the Aurora's ventral cothon until it forces itself free by going to warp while still inside the ship, tearing free of the clamps with a squealing metallic din and leaving a wound in the Aurora's hull.

Prince Kaim (also referred to as Kaim-Olorin) commands the Mnemon as the senior Jaddian authority aboard.
