Kupari

The Kupari is a surface-to-space freighter sitting in a blast pit at the Berenike starport. It is described as resembling a silver finger, burned and ionized in places, built in the manner of the rockets of utmost antiquity with red fins. Its base is fitted with ice-cauled fuel cells kept under extraordinary pressure, and aftermarket repulsor nacelles have been welded on to offset payload. Each fuel cell is roughly eight feet long and about a cubit in diameter. The cells contain a chemical accelerant for a hydrogen-oxygen burning primary drive, a primitive rocket that Hadrian describes as 'riding explosives to the stars.'

During the Cielcin siege of Berenike, the Kupari sits in a blast pit at the starport. Hadrian identifies its pressurized fuel cells as an improvised weapon. Four or five of the cells are detonated beneath the Cielcin siege towers, destroying a substantial portion of the Cielcin landing fleet.
