Cai Shen lay outside the Veil, the established frontier war zone between the Sollan Empire and the Cielcin. The Cielcin attack on Cai Shen was notable because the world sat beyond the known front, demonstrating the Cielcin were growing bolder and striking deeper into human-held space. A Wong-Hopper Consortium fleet received an emergency telegraph from the Cai Shen system just before the planet fell and broadcast the last news packets alongside their announcement of a visit to Delos. The QET wave carrying news of the fall reached Delos only months before the opening events of the series. Lord Alistair Marlowe and his advisors spent an entire night reviewing the attack footage. With Cai Shen destroyed, House Marlowe on Delos became the new largest licensed uranium supplier in the sector, forcing the Consortium to divert its procurement accordingly. Director Feng described Delos as not quite as rich a uranium source as Cai Shen had been.
