Vrabel

Doctor Vrabel is the personal physician of Emperor William XXIII, present throughout the Emperor's deteriorating health crisis. He is short and round-shouldered, with pale disheveled hair beneath a black skullcap. He is Jewish, and Hadrian regards his appointment as a deliberate safeguard against Chantry influence.

Vrabel accompanies the Emperor on the expedition to Cynon and into the bunker beneath the city. When the march proves too much for the Emperor, Vrabel does not leave his side for the entire return flight to Gododdin, sleeping on a couch in the Imperial apartments and barely eating or sleeping. The Emperor eventually wears Vrabel's own exoskeleton at the Llurug Planum gathering, a testament to the physician's total dedication to keeping him functional.
