Roderick Halford

Roderick Halford is Commander and night captain of the Tamerlane, a soft-spoken palatine of lesser birth who accumulated over two hundred years of active service across a long career. Hadrian considers him a fine and reliable officer, crediting him with saving the ship and crew at Nagapur when pirates attacked during a fugue transit. Corvo had expected the Padmurak mission to be his last voyage.

Halford is killed at Akterumu during the Cielcin assault on Padmurak. Captured with other Tamerlane officers, he is executed; Hadrian identifies his head mounted on a Cielcin banner by his distinctive bald pate and prominent ears, and names him among those lost there.
