Renna

Renna is a common legionnaire who fights alongside Hadrian during the defense of Deira, distinguished by her faith in him as a messianic figure. Before the battle she kneels before him to ask whether he is the Chosen come to drive the Cielcin back. She survives the tunnel ambush, the street fighting, and the collapse of the staircase, and is among those Hadrian personally pushes to safety when the vayadan-general appears.

When Valka refuses Hadrian's call to lead civilians to safety, Renna volunteers in her place, quoting his own words -- "Protect the people" -- as her reason. She takes command of the legionnaires around her and leads survivors toward the tramway. Hadrian later reflects that she almost certainly died in the tram tunnels; he hopes she did, because the alternative is that she was taken alive and interned in the labor camps of Dharan-Tun.
