Lord Absalom Black

Lord Absalom Black is the Chancellor of Latarra's High Court, introduced as the seventh of that name. A physically imposing figure, he looms over others and speaks in a voice described as low as grinding tectonic plates.

Hadrian suspects Black is not truly the seventh of his name but rather the first, having transferred his mind into successive younger bodies through remote synaptic kinesis multiple times -- marking him as one of Kharn Sagara's long-lived clients. Black reacts with open contempt to any suggestion of handing Hadrian over to the Chantry, dismissing the idea as groveling. He is visibly surprised when Hadrian reveals his purpose in seeking passage to Vorgossos.
