Irene is a princess of House Avent and the second child of Emperor William XXIII, placing her among the highest ranks of the Imperial succession. She attends the formal ball at the Peronine Palace as part of the Emperor's entourage.

Hadrian Marlowe names Irene among those who may have arranged the attempt on his life by the Cielcin assassin Udax, though her direct involvement remains unconfirmed.
