Ghen of Emesh

Ghen is a native Emeshi myrmidon and centurion in the Meidua Red Company, one of Hadrian's companions from the Borosevo Colosso. He was a convict sentenced to the coliseum -- loud, coarse, and prone to bullying, but deeply loyal. He and Siran shared a history as myrmidons, prisoners, and criminals together, and both left Emesh to follow Hadrian. His sarcastic nickname for Hadrian, "His Radiance," was a term of enduring affection.

Ghen is killed at Arslan, shot in the back by the Painted Man while clearing the escape route alone on Hadrian's order. His body is not recovered from Rustam. Hadrian avenges him by destroying the Painted Man. His death remains a lasting wound within the crew, and his memory continues to walk with Hadrian through the long years that follow.
