Emperor Yushuhito

Yushuhito, known as the Tenno and Emperor-in-Nichibotsu, is the ethnarch of the Nipponese and ruler of Nichibotsu. Within the Imperium his rank is equivalent to a prince, though he holds the title of Emperor among his own people. He attended the Emperor's Grand Council on Forum in simple black, a largely silent presence who rose at moments of outrage without speaking directly to the assembly.

Throughout the Cielcin war councils, Yushuhito is a quietly probing voice. He communicates exclusively through an aide who translates his Japanese remarks, though Hadrian notes the translations are not always fully accurate. At the council on Forum he raised concerns about undetected Cielcin telegraph networks that could mask the true scale of the enemy fleet. At the War Council in Fort Din, seated on the lowest tier among the assembled commanders, he directs his questioning to Bassander Lin, pressing on how large an energetic wave would need to be to affect a Watcher.
