Darathama

Darathama is a young Cielcin raised aboard the ship Demiurge, the child of Otomno and Ramanthanu. Born during Hadrian's voyage and named to mean 'living one,' it grows rapidly and is shaped entirely by its upbringing among the human crew, speaking Galactic Standard fluently and integrating into the shipboard community of children.

When its parents depart for Dharan-Tun on a mission from which they do not expect to return, they leave Darathama behind, stating it is better for the child to be raised as human. Darathama attends the burial of Ramanthanu dressed in makeshift white robes and Legion blacks, its arms and face bearing self-inflicted cuts weeping black blood in the Cielcin tradition of mourning. Hadrian lays a hand on the child's head in comfort. Following the dispersal of the fleet, Darathama accompanies Edouard and Cassandra aboard Ascalon.
