D-307 Aleph

D-307 Aleph is a posthuman captain among the Free Captains of Vorgossos, commanding a vessel designated 4B-65CC7-Eta-9E3-Gimel-4. His body is entirely mechanical -- a walking suit of armor with limbs too narrow for human flesh, pauldrons embossed with gilded human arms, and a sallet-helm head that rotates on servo-whine. He states he is all machine save his brain, which he regards as barely qualifying as such.

Aleph refuses to surrender his weapons on the grounds that they cannot be separated from him, and when asked for assurances he will do no violence, he offers none. He meets with Hadrian following the death of Kharn Sagara, remarking that losing Sagara is like a star going out and that Hadrian does not appreciate the magnitude of his own victory.
