Abberton is a researcher employed by MINOS, the clandestine organization he refers to as "the Lodge." He is encountered by Hadrian in a virology laboratory, where he surrenders immediately upon the soldiers' arrival. His gray, metallic eyes indicate neural implant modifications, and he has blocked his peripheral pain receptors, allowing him to remain impassive under physical duress.

Abberton reveals that he and his colleagues designed LTH-81, a retrovirus engineered to incapacitate planetary populations by targeting gatekeeper genes, stimulating the pituitary, and forcing runaway bone growth and cancer. When pressed for further information, he triggers his neural lace to transmit his mind to a local receiver, killing himself rather than cooperate further.
