Eragassa

World

First appears in Disquiet Gods, Chapter 34

Eragassa is a pale white world formerly within Imperial territory, part of the demesne of the dukes of House Haide. It was cut off from Imperial control when Marinus fell, shortly before the Battle of Berenike, and subsequently came under the authority of the Monarch of Latarra. The world is the site of the Battle of Eragassa, in which the Latarran Grand Army defeated a Cielcin assault force.

Geography

Eragassa is described as a pale white world. Following the Battle of Eragassa, the destruction of one of the Cielcin worldships' antimatter reservoirs created new moons. These new moons are in colliding orbits that will eventually cause them to impact the planet, making its apocalyptic destruction certain within years.

Politics

Eragassa was formerly the demesne of the dukes of House Haide under the Sollan Empire. When Marinus fell, shortly before the Battle of Berenike, the world was cut off from Imperial control. Duke Alexander III of House Haide subsequently died without a legitimate heir — unable to conceive a legitimate heir without access to the Empire — and the remnant Imperial government on Eragassa reached out to the Monarch of Latarra, who gathered the world to himself.

The Cielcin vayadan-general Teyanu was dispatched to cull Eragassa's population of approximately twenty-five million. The Latarran Grand Army intercepted the assault, smashing nine Cielcin worldships in the Battle of Eragassa and began evacuating the population. Lorian Aristedes commanded the Latarran fleet at Eragassa and bested Teyanu in the engagement. Despite the military victory, the destruction of one of the worldships' antimatter reservoirs created new moons on collision courses with the planet, rendering the world ultimately doomed.
