Anshar

Anshar is the remote southern continent of Emesh, home to the ancient Quiet ruins at Calagah, the city of Tolbaran — the old capital from before House Mataro took the planet, now left to molder in the hands of servants — and the settlement of Springdeep. Its landscape is characterized by time-eaten igneous rock — black and flinty upthrust from long-quieted volcanism — and a cold, windy coastal climate markedly different from the equatorial heat of Borosevo. The coast near Calagah is scoured by fierce winds blowing in from the sea, with spray that rimes the rocks. Because both of Emesh's moons, Binah and Armand, are locked in polar orbits, the southern latitudes experience significantly larger tides than the equatorial regions — larger enough to periodically flood the Calagah ruins entirely, forcing the excavation to pause until waters recede. Lord Perun Veisi serves as Archon of Anshar, ruling from the city of Tolbaran.
