The Yahmazi serve as the Jaddian secret police. They enjoy a reputation described as even more fearsome than that of Imperial Special Security, partly because they are even less talked about. The Yahmazi monitor visitors and affairs on behalf of Jaddian royalty.

Prince Aldia employs the Yahmazi to monitor visitors and affairs within his domain. He acknowledges their surveillance role to Hadrian Marlowe while assuring Hadrian that he does not pry into the private matters of friends.
