The 437th Centaurine Legion is an Imperial military unit stationed at or assigned to Emesh's defense, commanded by Knight-Tribune Raine Smythe. In a joint action with the Emesh Defense Force, the 437th annihilated a Cielcin incursion force at the heliopause of the Emesh system — thirty-three hours before a dinner at the Calagah excavation camp. The planetary broadcast frames the engagement as 'another glorious victory,' language Hadrian recognizes as the standard formulation of the Ministry of Public Enlightenment's logothetes. The Legion was previously stationed near Emesh during an earlier period: the Battle of Wodan saw the 437th and 438th Centaurine Legions capture several hundred Cielcin.
