Tor Ada
CharacterFirst appears in Empire of Silence, Chapter 63
Tor Ada is a bald scholiast affiliated with Archon Veisi's household and a senior member of the Calagah excavation team. She has pale eyes and a plain patrician face, and wears voluminous green linen sleeves. She is noticeably averse to the cold coastal winds of Anshar and has a practised familiarity with the ruins' history.
During the Jaddian delegation's visit to Calagah, Ada begins her prepared overview of the site's history for the dignitaries, carefully avoiding any mention of offworld similarities that could be construed as heretical. When the satrap asks whether the Umandh built the place, Ada begins to say they did not — and is immediately cut off by Elomas, who takes over. Later, when the satrap speculates about the ruins' origins, Ada ventures cautiously into the question of extinction-level events and even raises the possibility that Earth was once ruled by dragons, presenting it as established academic opinion rather than heresy. She provides the institutional history of Calagah: the Chantry swept the site in the first century of Imperial occupation and currently tolerates the excavation as a low theological risk, though she has warned Valka directly that all findings will eventually be sequestered.
