Sir Preston Rau

Sir Preston Rau is the master-at-arms employed by Count Mataro's household to instruct the palatine children in swordsmanship. Anaïs Mataro considers him 'not a very good one' and describes him as 'hideous.' She and her brother Dorian regard him as an inadequate teacher, which is why Anaïs recruits Hadrian to replace or supplement his instruction.
