Sir Felix

Sir Felix Martyn is the knight-castellan of Devil's Rest and master-at-arms to Lord Alistair Marlowe, and one of the few members of Alistair's court with whom Hadrian feels a genuine bond. He judges Hadrian the superior fighter of the two Marlowe sons, a verdict Lord Alistair relays directly to Hadrian. He concludes Hadrian's training a month before Hadrian's departure from Devil's Rest.

Beyond his role as combat instructor, Felix serves as Alistair's proxy in matters of discipline. He administers the public flogging of the tutor Gibson on Alistair's behalf, personally delivering the fifteen lashes at the whipping post. He serves Alistair not out of loyalty but in expectation of lands and a title of his own.
