Sarric Jugo

Doctor Sarric is the physician aboard the Jaddian free trader Eurynasir and a clansman of the Tavros Demarchy. He is wax-faced, with a thin mustache and lank blond hair pulled back in a tail. His most distinctive feature is a geometric tattoo of interlocking diamonds and triangles covering his high forehead — the symbolic record of personal and genetic history used by the clansmen of the Tavros Demarchy, a practice Hadrian recognizes as the same type of marking worn by Valka. Sarric moves almost silently and breathes little puffs of steam in the cold air of the ship's medica; his voice is crackling and throaty.

As a physician, Sarric is competent and professional. During Hadrian's cryogenic freezing, he attaches sensor tapes, inserts the cryo-agent needle, and seals the crèche with practiced efficiency. He objects to Hadrian keeping his signet ring during the freeze — calling it 'Imperial barbarian foolishness' on the grounds that the metal will burn the skin — but defers without further protest when Captain Demetri overrules him.
