Lord Ohannes Douro
CharacterAlso known as: Douro, Lord Douro, Ohannes Douro
First appears in Disquiet Gods, Chapter 54
Lord Ohannes Douro is the Fifth Strategos of the Legions of Orion and Baron of Anarias, a copper-skinned veteran of three millennia who commanded from the Imperial Service Vessel Bradamante before his death during the Vorgossos campaign. He was killed when the Artemision destroyed the Bradamante after he opened fire on Demiurge and attempted to seize its Mericanii weapons by force.
Douro's history is far longer and more significant than his role at Vorgossos suggests. Emperor William describes him as a covert asset and veteran of secret wars against the Extrasolarians predating even William's own reign, and reveals that Douro spent two hundred years hunting Vorgossos. He lost his own brother to Kharn Sagara's agents during that search, an experience that shaped him into a relentless hunter who saw Extrasolarian infiltration everywhere -- a quality the Emperor valued. William states that he sent Douro to deal with Sagara, not Hadrian. In the aftermath of his death, Hadrian calls him a traitor while others at Fort Din call Hadrian Douro's killer, leaving his legacy contested.
