Looker

Looker is a young Lothrian companion to Carry, appearing no older than fifteen. Of indeterminate sex -- described as either a strong-jawed girl or an effeminate boy -- Looker is one of the Lothrian new men, a hermaphroditic class created by the Conclave's social engineering, and is referred to with the neutral pronoun by the narration. Looker speaks broken Galstani and, upon encountering Hadrian, asks with visible hope whether his people would destroy the Conclave -- a yearning that stands in sharp contrast to Carry's resigned pessimism. Looker is likely a member of Magda's underground faith alongside Carry.
