Catherine

Catherine the White was the closest companion of the God Emperor William XXIII and the mother of his son Victor Sebastos. Though never a queen by title, William speaks of her with deep devotion, describing her love as genuine and mutual. She could not be saved -- the circumstances of her death are unspecified -- and her memory endures as a defining grief in the Emperor's ancient history. Her connection to Kharn Sagara proved consequential: because Sagara had helped protect Catherine and their son, William spared him despite his betrayal of the Empire.
