Catherine
CharacterFirst appears in Empire of Silence, Chapter 26
Catherine the White was the closest companion of the God Emperor William XXIII and the mother of his son Victor Sebastos. Though never a queen by title, William speaks of her with deep devotion, describing her love as genuine and mutual. She could not be saved -- the circumstances of her death are unspecified -- and her memory endures as a defining grief in the Emperor's ancient history. Her connection to Kharn Sagara proved consequential: because Sagara had helped protect Catherine and their son, William spared him despite his betrayal of the Empire. Her history is recounted by the God Emperor himself during the wedding feast at the Arx Caelestis.
