Banks

Banks is a veteran myrmidon at the Borosevo Colosso on Emesh, a lantern-jawed, leather-faced fighter with years of experience in the pits. He is skeptical by temperament: during Hadrian's first address to the team he shouts dismissals from the back of the crowd, and in the arena he shouts "Are you insane?" when Hadrian orders the myrmidons to scatter and flank. Despite his skepticism, he acts on Hadrian's plan once the situation demands it: he crashes into the first gladiatrix from behind while Hadrian holds her attention, locking out her armor and scoring the first myrmidon victory of the engagement. He grins afterward and follows Hadrian's lead for the rest of the fight.

Banks is killed in a subsequent single combat with the gladiator captain Jaffa of the Borosevo Sphinxes, when Jaffa's spear strikes a joint in his armor.
