Abiatha

Abiatha is the old chanter who tends the belfry and altar in the private Chantry sanctum at Devil's Rest. He served as one of Hadrian's religious tutors during his childhood, teaching him not only prayer but also a private skepticism — that even priests harbor doubts. Through the oversight of the Chantry priors above Abiatha, Hadrian was separately instructed to guard those doubts as the heresy they were.
