2Maeve Gamma A27

2Maeve, formally designated Captain 2Maeve Gamma A27, is Chief Security Officer to Commandant General Lorian Aristedes and commander of the Interfaced contingent aboard the Mistwalker. She is killed during the assault on Vorgossos by Calen Harendotes, who destroys her after she is possessed by the female clone of Kharn Sagara.

She is a tall, thin woman with near-white hair and a black metallic implant at her right temple, with dark threads visible beneath her pale skin. Three thousand Interfaced serve under her aboard the Mistwalker -- a third operating lightercraft as aquilarii, the rest serving as ground troopers and artillery crews -- forming the backbone of Lorian's vanguard.

She regards non-Interfaced humans as 'fleshlings' and carries herself with cold detachment, yet her fierce protectiveness of Lorian reflects a genuine devotion. During the Vorgossos assault, she commands Arthur Flight as 'Art-1,' coordinating the drop with Lorian and Hadrian and directing the flight when it encounters a surface gun emplacement. On the ground, she reveals to Hadrian that Harendotes had concealed Hadrian's involvement in the assault; when she quietly admits she cannot reach Lorian due to downed communications, Hadrian perceives that she loves him. When the female Sagara's control propagates through the Interfaced network via her golden-handed clone, 2Maeve is among those simultaneously possessed. Harendotes kills her to stop the threat. Her lieutenants are 5Eamon and 8Gael.
